• Pathophysiology
    • Hyperkeratinization of the hair follicle infundibulum leads to formation of horny plugs that block the follicle.
    • Strong association with Atopic Dermatitis (Eczema) and Ichthyosis Vulgaris.
    • Often improves with age.
  • Clinical Features
    • Small, rough, follicular papules (gooseflesh appearance or “chicken skin”).
    • Often asymptomatic, but can be pruritic.
    • Classic Location: Extensor surfaces of the upper arms (triceps area), anterior thighs, and cheeks.
    • Worse in winter (dryness).
  • Treatment
    • Reurance (benign).
    • Emollients and Keratolytics to soften the plugs (e.g., Urea cream, Salicylic acid, Ammonium lactate).
