- Pathophysiology
- Hyperkeratinization of the hair follicle infundibulum leads to formation of horny plugs that block the follicle.
- Strong association with Atopic Dermatitis (Eczema) and Ichthyosis Vulgaris.
- Often improves with age.
- Clinical Features
- Small, rough, follicular papules (gooseflesh appearance or “chicken skin”).
- Often asymptomatic, but can be pruritic.
- Classic Location: Extensor surfaces of the upper arms (triceps area), anterior thighs, and cheeks.
- Worse in winter (dryness).

- Treatment
- Reurance (benign).
- Emollients and Keratolytics to soften the plugs (e.g., Urea cream, Salicylic acid, Ammonium lactate).
