    • Present in ~25% of adults.

    • Paradoxical Embolism: DVT bypasses lungs via R → L shunt (during Valsalva) causing Cryptogenic Stroke.
  • Diagnosis
    • TEE with Bubble Study: Agitated saline crosses to LA during Valsalva.
  • Treatment
    • Antiplatelets/Anticoagulants.
    • PFO Closure reserved for recurrent cryptogenic strokes.
